Title: "Bulfer Grove Bluebells"
Artist: Lionel Wilde
Medium: Acrylic on stretched on Canvas
Size: 64 x 54cms (incl the Frame)
Frame: Painted profiled wood
Price (incl. Shipping costs UK only): £245
Lionels background:
I have painted throughout my life, obtaining the first distinction in GCE A level Art in London. Since retiring to Norfolk I have shared my love of painting by giving demonstrations to local art groups, but now I paint as a form of meditation, trying to capture that deep sense of peace and unity I feel when contemplating the sublime light and expanse of the north Norfolk skies and landscape. I am more concerned with capturing what I feel than achieving photographically accurate detail. Perhaps my style could best be described as Impressionist.
I like to work quickly, alla-prima wherever possible, using acrylic paints because of their rapid drying time. I first apply a mid-tone coloured background to the canvas, which I find helps draw the final colours and tones together. I seek from the outset to establish the dynamic of the composition, the contrasts of light, colour and texture, applying broad, loose brush strokes, before adding the final tones and hints of detail.
.
My wife and I are members of the Binham Art Group, details of which can be found on www.binhamartgroup.weebly.com through which you may contact me and view some of my recent work.

Title: "Matisse in Wells"
Artist: Robin

Unframed: please note the sides of the canvas have been painted as part of the picture so the canvas could hang as it is. This picture is UV protected with gloss finish artists varnish.
Price (excl. Shipping costs): SOLD
Some background comments:
Of course Matisse never came to Wells, but during his illness he was confined to quarters, hence many of his later paintings included views through windows. Having been inspired by the original picture I felt it was a perfect setting to include the Quay at Wells. I have tried to reflect the colours of The Granary at the same time using Matisse's palette. Matisse had at least 3 cats, Miniuche, Coussi and La Puce (the flea), this one is thought to be Coussi. As an aside, in the 1900s Goldfish were considered exotic and usually only owned by the wealthy, being imported from the Orient. My tribute to Matisse was inspired by his use of bright colours which features in most of my paintings. This is a painting from a series of noted paintings that have meant something to me during my career. Some pictures, including this one, often featured in my presentations to illustrate a point, this is one I regularly used to emphasise the message 'No where to hide". Enjoy
